Potluck picnic with gentle Push Hands in Gleason Park after the Sun 73 Tai Chi class. Bring  light lunch to snack & share while we explore gentle 2-person tai chi. After learning solo tai chi routines, many benefits can be gained by playing with 2-person Push Hands. It's said that through practicing solo tai chi routines we know ourselves better and by then practicing Push Hands we learn how to interact appropriately with others.

This is NOT competitive or aggressive Push Hands!! We will not be pushing and pulling but rather feeling into flowing with another's energy by lightly touching hands and wrists at a slight distance while moving, like in the photo. If you have an aversion to touch, this may be an uncomfortable event for you. But that doesn't mean you should necessarily avoid Push Hands. Often it is the thing that makes us uncomfortable that challenges us to overcome obstacles and become better.

I enjoy Push Hands so much that for over 6 months, no joke,  I used to drive an hour each way to Vero Beach twice a week just to practice Push Hands with my fellow classmate Olga. It can really be fun and teach us alot about how we interact with others. While Olga and I did sometimes degraded into a slapping festival that left us laughing hysterically as we tried to push and pull and strike each other in more aggressive play, that is not right for everyone  and will not be part of this event.

The event photo is a picture of me showing a new friend in North Carolina how to do gentle Push Hands. She had never tried any tai chi and qigong, we barely knew each other and after this one brief 7 minute experience she exclaimed, "I love tai chi and can't wait to learn it!" Maybe you'll love it too!  Like dancing energetically with someone!

This event is intended to be an interactive social, not for people to come, eat and observe only.  It is free, but since I will be leading most of the Push Hands, I appreciate you feeding me lunch or even making a small donation. Thanks for keeping things in balance. "Before recieveing there must be giving."  -- Tao Te Ching ☯️
