Qigong (chi kung, qi gong) is the world's oldest energy art and the #1 practice for healthy longevity.  Gentle enough for the ill of health but potent enough to benefit seasoned athletes, these on-going sessions offer something for everyone. The stretch of yoga, core strengthening of Pilates and mental balance of meditation with particular emphasis on breathing and better breathing techniques.

These beginner friendly sessions are different every class but always center around the four tools of qigong: breath work, special movements, visualization and massage.  While each session is different, class may:

 1.  Cover specific qigong routines (like the 8 Pieces of Brocade, Level 1 Healing, Wuji, DaMo 18 set, etc.)

 2. Focus on one aspect of qigong (like just breath work)

 3. Focus on the specific needs of attending participants

 4. Combine various styles from different systems of qigong.

Qigong generally uses repetition to induce a healing, meditative state.  There's no "homework" to remember the routine (like in tai chi).    Classes are held regardless of weather (unless there's a hurricane). We meet under the pavilion if it's raining. Of course you can always choose to not come if you don't like the weather. 😉

These classes are FREE, courtesy of the Town of Melbourne Beach. If you enjoy the sessions, tell the town managers "thank you" for hosting and paying the instructor. More information about qigong is available on the "About" page and blog posts like this one: Qigong or Tai Chi?  And this one: The Four Tools of Qigong.

If you'd like an email reminder about the class, simply follow the "Buy Tickets" prompt (it's a free class) and reminders will show up in your inbox.

The 9:30 Qigong session is followed at 10:30 by Tai Chi 1+2.  You are always welcome to attend one or both free classes.
