Mark your calendar and tell your chi-minded friends, the First Annual Beachside Qigong Society New Year Beach Bonfire is on! Saturday, January 11th, 2020, day after full moon and one week before Chinese New Year! Hightower Beach Park, Satellite Beach, FL, first fire site right of the boardwalk. Please bring a purchased bag of wood as your contribution. I paid for the fire permits :) Sunset that day is 5:45 pm so I'll arrive 5:20ish to claim a space and dig a fire pit. You arrive not too late: we can't get the fire started without your wood!
Bring a chair you like, something to drink and maybe some munchies to share around the fire. Perhaps I'll make a huge bag of kale chips to pass. How about you? We'll relax by the fire, soak in the moonlight and share in some chi-community. Bypassing typical boring small talk, our "meet & greet" will filled with interesting and impactful topics as well as a discussion of the upcoming Year of the Rat. I'll bring a rake for some meditative Zen sand art - you gotta try it, so contemplative and enjoyable! I'd also like to hear if there's any interest in starting a monthly "Beachside Qigong Society Social," so give it some thought and we'll all talk about it. Let me know if you'd like to lead a particular qigong practice that's calming and rejuvenating in the full moon light. If you won't, I will. ;) Hope you can make it!

Note: WOOD MUST BE PURCHASED IN A BAG, FIRE DEPT WILL CHECK ON US and does issue
fines, DO NOT BRING UNPURCHASED WOOD!
WHAT TO BRING: Wood, beach chair, weather appropriate clothes (may be cold), something to drink (no
glass on beach), munchies (I'll have a table set up), headlamp to walk the beach and to
see walking while carrying stuff, a willingness to meet and share with your chi
community.
Miscellaneous info: There is no sea turtle activity this time of year. There will be "beach restoration" going on at this time. Our site is as far as possible from the base of operations but could be impacted by the project. We will have advance notice if the city cancels our permit due to the stupid sand replacement project. Hightower Park has a substantial ramped boardwalk so you can easily bring a cart for your stuff. Please lock your car in the lot. There are public bathrooms, an outside shower, and a small walkway with picnic tables at the top of the dune. This lovely area with it's adjacent undeveloped dunes is currently in the planning phase for hotel and high rise condo development. If you'd like to see it kept natural, let the City of Satellite Beach know. We do not need another Ft. Lauderdale-like environment on our coast. Keep Satellite quaint!
