About the event

Blackpoint Wildlife Drive is nestled into the heart of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge between Titusville and Canaveral National Seashore or Playalinda Beach.  The refuge is home to many of North America's migrating birds for the winter.  At sunset, they group together for the night in the many sheltered alcoves available along the drive. It's quite a sight to come upon an entire flock of geese, or dappled ducks or even mesmerizing rosette spoonbills.  As a child long ago I remember seeing a huge flock of pink flamingos here. There's no guarantee what we'll see.

We'll meet at Lea's 4:00 to carpool and caravan the hour it takes to get to Blackpoint Drive near Titusville. There are no restrooms at the refuge so before we cross the Max Brewer Causeway, we'll stop at the park to stretch our legs and use the facilities. It's $10/car or yearly pass per car.…
